Blaze celebrate 50 years of basketball on the Coast

The Gold Coast Blaze will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of basketball on the Gold Coast at their next home game, on Wednesday 14th of October. Every kid who plays basketball for Gold Coast or Runaway Bay is entitled to a free ticket, and there are some great group booking discounts available. Make sure you check out the Blaze site for seating plans, and contact the GCCRBA office to take advantage of this offer.
Tip off for the game is at the special time of 6:30pm. The game is against the Melbourne Tigers and if the Blaze's last home games are anything to go by, it promises to be an exciting night.

Callout for Memorabilia

We are currently seeking any memorabilia (photos, articles, videos etc) for display on the evening. If you have, or know anyone who has, anything of interest please get in touch with Toby Simm on 0421 994 084.
The memorabilia will be used to create a huge chronological display of the past 50 years of basketball on the Gold Coast. If you have any photos, newspaper articles, recordings, uniforms, posters, programs, or anything else, we may need it!

GC Blaze to celebrate 50 years of basketball

The Gold Coast Blaze have confirmed that their home game on the 14th of October vs. Melbourne Tigers will be dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of basketball on the Gold Coast.
Come along and support both the Blaze and GCCRBA in what promises to be an exciting game. FOX will be broadcasting the game live so we need a massive crowd to prove that basketball is alive on the Coast!
Please invite your friends to come! Tickets can be purchased from the Blaze website for as little as $10.
Tip off is at 6.30pm.

Live Music with 'The Accidents'

The Gold Coast's premiere cover band The Accidents have been confirmed to play at the Gala Dinner on Saturday 17th October 2009.
The Accidents have a huge repertoire and cover all genres of music.. They perform classic songs and today's Top 40 hits.. Songs from Katy Perry, Sneaky Sound System, Potbeleez, Kings Of Leon, Kid Rock, Lady GaGa, John Butler Trio, Wolfmother, Rihanna to classics like AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Hunters and Collectors, Transvision Vamp, Divinyls and The Rogue Traders.
The Accidents is one heck of a night out, sore feet and sore heads are guaranteed. Prepare yourself for the most fun you can have with your clothes on! Get your tickets now by contacting the office.

Gala Dinner Venue Confirmed

The Gala Dinner will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 17th October at 6pm. We have managed to secure Hall 4 at the northern end of the Centre, which is a fabulous spot overlooking the water with the Surfers Paradise skyline lighting up the background. Many thanks to Shona at the GCCEC for her support towards the Association.
With a date and venue now confirmed the night is really taking shape. It promises to be the night of nights on the basketball calendar, with a chance to rub shoulders with many past and present NBL stars and catch up with old friends. Also, a large display of memrobilia from the past 50 years will be on show throughout the evening, along with a special video presentation, a silent auction, live music, and merchandise for purchase. Hall 4 is an amazing room with fabulous views, and has the capacity to seat around 500 people. Tickets are limited however, so make sure you get yours now by contacting the office.
If you have, or know someone who has, any memrobilia from the past 50 years of basketball on the Gold Coast, we would love to display it on the night. Please get in touch if you are happy to participate.
